With 56% of wifi connections being accessed by mobile smart phones, it’s no surprise that Life Church was highly interested in our mobile site solution for Showit. With some custom coding, and some code to redirect mobile users from their existing Showit website, they now have a mobile presence to be proud of!  Life Church’s mobile site features a unique “messages” page that hosts their latest sermons. These can be played with the tap of a finger using your phones default media player.

Tweak your Tweets!

Showit provides a Twitter widget to display tweets.  The good thing is that it’s quick and fits most designs; the bad thing is that it’s not able to be used in some designs. There IS a bit of a workaround that will give you a little bit more control, and may allow you to achieve the look you we’re initially going for.

Open Showit, and add the Feed Reader Widget to the stage.  Next, visit your Twitter profile while logged out. Look to the very bottom, of the right sidebar, and you’ll find the RSS icon to subscribe to the timeline feed. Copy this link, and paste it into  the “Feed URL” section. That’s it! It will only display a minimum of three posts, but you can shrink the widget down in the advanced panel (canvas size), and get rid of the scroll bar to make it look like it only has one tweet. Finally, style and tweak your tweets!

We’ll be the first to admit that the mobile version of Showit websites are…well…bless their heart…a bit homely. We’re happy to report that we’ve found a solution, and today we’re proud to announce the launch of a custom designed mobile website division of SMD.

Mobile websites aren’t new. Custom mobile websites aren’t new. So what makes this process special? Upon launching your mobile site, we will place a simple piece of code on your Showit website that will automatically detect a mobile user and redirect them to your mobile version. This means that anyone who visits your site on an iPhone, or Android device will sent to your mobile version in the blink of an eye.

Our mobile sites add-on features full screen galleries, integrated RSS feeds, integrated Twitter feeds (optional), 100% clean code, optimized for search engines, and much much more!*

To kick off the launch we’re giving away a custom mobile site add-on for FREE! All you have to do is send out a tweet with the hashtag #smdmobilesites That’s it! You don’t even have to follow us! You can even tweet whatever you want just be sure to include the the hashtag #smdmobilesites in your tweet. Contest ends at midnight on February 11th. Winner will be announced via Twitter sometime on February 12th.
